CL Synergy Champions “Accelerate Action” for Sri Lankan Women!
International Women’s Day 2025 carries a powerful message: “Accelerate Action.” This theme calls for more than just words; it demands concrete change, especially in regions and industries across Sri Lanka, where women still face systemic inequalities. CL Synergy, a leading Sri Lankan freight forwarder, stands firmly behind this call, celebrating Sri Lanka’s progressive history of inclusivity while acknowledging the urgent need for further progress.
Sri Lankan women have long been pillars of resilience and strength, driving progress across various sectors. From the vital tea plantations that are the backbone of the nation’s economy to leadership roles within our own industry of freight forwarding, their contributions are indispensable. At CL Synergy (CLS), this spirit of inclusivity is reflected in the company’s merit-based environment, where women hold strategic, leadership positions. However, the company recognizes that such inclusivity is not yet universal, and the theme of “Accelerate Action” serves as a critical reminder for all organizations to prioritize gender equality.
In honor of International Women’s Day and this inspiring theme, CL Synergy hosted a special in-house Panel discussion on March 10th to celebrate and empower Sri Lankan women, both within the company and beyond. The event featured a pivotal discussion led by Dr. Sulochana Segera, Founder and Chairperson of Women in Management (WIM) Sri Lanka, Maldives, Canada, the UK, UAE, and Malaysia. With over 26 years of experience as a social entrepreneur, trainer, and motivational speaker, Dr. Segera spoke on the topic, “Women in Corporate and Empowering Them.” Her leadership of WIM’s impactful initiatives, such as the “Top 50 Professional Career Women Awards” and the “WIM Free Kitchen,” demonstrates her unwavering commitment to recognizing, celebrating, and empowering women across industries. Shehani Kulatunga, Executive Director at CLS and Roshan Silva, Managing Director of CLS also sat on the panel, sharing personal insights and offering pragmatic suggestions on what corporates can do to accelerate action.
The event was further enriched by a video presentation from the Emerge Lanka Foundation, a leading non-profit dedicated to breaking the cycle of abuse. The video highlighted the foundation’s vital work in reintegrating young women affected by abuse back into society as confident young women capable of greatness. This session not only educated CL Synergy employees about the foundation’s impactful efforts but also brought awareness to the challenges faced by women who have experienced abuse. In a gesture of solidarity, CL Synergy donated vouchers to 10 Emerge Lanka graduates, helping them start their new lives with confidence and support.
The day concluded with a heartfelt token of appreciation for all female employees, recognizing their invaluable contributions to the company, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony. In 2025, CL Synergy is committed to going beyond symbolic gestures and taking tangible actions to advance gender equality. The company envisions a Sri Lanka where every woman has the opportunity to realize her full potential, lead with confidence, and contribute to the nation’s continued progress. By embracing the theme of “Accelerate Action,” CL Synergy aims to be a catalyst for meaningful and lasting change, driving forward a future where gender equality is a reality for all.
